ABOUT ME

I graduated with a master’s degree in Social Science (Counselling) from the University of Hong Kong in 2022. I am a former committee member of Special Needs Network Hong Kong and a current committee member of The Association of Family Carers of Severely Intellectually Disabled Persons.

I am passionate about improving the care of children with complex healthcare needs (epilepsy, cerebral palsy, rare genetic diseases, etc.)  and support for their families (parents, grandparents, siblings and other caregivers). I also have an amateur interest in disability studies and disability representation. In 2023, I joined the online master's degree programme on disability studies, rights and inclusion offered by the University of Leeds with an aim to deepen my understanding of disability and advocacy.

My own experience as a parent of a disabled child allowed me to deepen my understanding of family carers on an ongoing basis. I also heard from parents of children with disabilities and/or chronic medical conditions that it is often not easy to find therapists who understand the specific stressors and trauma associated with being the parent of a disabled or sick child. I believe my lived experience will allow me to walk with my clients and make their difficult life a little easier.

I work in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.
